Lines and Wrinkles

With advancing age, wrinkles appear on the face. Wrinkles, prematurely, give an oldish look to a young person. For women, in particular, wrinkles are a curse. But this tendency and the resultant aging can be checked sufficiently if proper care is taken when you are still young. Just as a balanced diet and regular exercise are important in order to control overweight, likewise regular massage of the face is effective to control lines and wrinkles in advanced age. Timely care in youth pays rich dividend in the forties.
Facial massage is an effective way to counter wrinkles. Remember, it is, indeed, not a magic to bring a change overnight. Massage is a slow process and its results are obvious only when it is continued for a longer period. Massage reduces the unattractive fleshiness, tightens the tissues and muscles and increases blood circulation. With the passage of time, all the visible defects like wrinkles, flabbiness and dead cells of the skin vanish and a fresh and young look is restored. Massage is based on five major steps which include Effleurage, Petrissage, Tapotement, Friction and Vibration movement.
Effleurage is a stroking movement using the palms of hands with a constant pressure which effects relaxation, increases blood circulation and warms the skin tissues. Petrissage movement involves deeper stimulation to the muscles and skin glands, basically meant for dry and dehydrated skin types. Tapotement means the percussion movement with alternate hands, basically meant for oily skin. The massage movements include cupping, pounding, pinching and hacking which increase blood circulation, strengthen and tone the muscle, stimulate sensory nerves, increase lymph circulation and redistribute fatty tissues. Friction is a circular movement produced by the pads of the fingers or thumbs. Pressure on the skin increases blood and lymph circulation. Vibration massage movement using pads of the fingers, thumb and hand in static or running form stimulates the nerves, relieves pain (if there is), loosens scar tissues and stretches adhesion.
