Mud Pack and Mud Bath
The use of mud packs is highly beneficial and effective in the treatment of chronic skin inflammations and internal diseases. The mud treatment is able to retain moisture and coolness for a longer time than cold water packs and hot water compresses. The cold moisture in mud packs relaxes the pores of the skin, draws blood into the surface, relieves inner congestion and pain and promotes heat radiation and elimination of toxic matter. It is an established fact that mud has strong and powerful healing properties for all kinds of skin diseases.
A mud pack is prepared with clay obtained from about six feet below the surface of the earth, ensuring that it does not contain any impurities such as compost or pebbles. The clay is then made into a smooth paste with warm water. This is spread on a strip of cloth, the size of which may vary according to requirements. The pack is applied on the abdomen and it cures weakness or nervous disorders, swellings, malfunctioning of the kidneys and liver and sexual disorders. The pack is applied for 30 to 45 minutes on the abdomen.
Mud bath or clay bath is another mode of treatment of skin diseases, to improve the complexion and to clear spots and patches on the skin. It also cures serious skin diseases like psoriasis, leprosy and leucorrhoea (a vaginal discharge). A mud bath taken for 30 to 60 minutes forms a vital part of natural beauty treatment.
